The Industry Competence Committee is committed to setting expectations for industry by sharing clear principles on how individual competence could be demonstrated and how organisations could manage the competence of those working for them.
The first stage of this has now been shared with industry and sets out:
- Overarching principles for industry
- Principles on individual competence
- ICC definitions of competence management and organisational culture
Further details may be found at the following link:
ICC Setting Expectations – Principles for industry – Consultation Document V1 – May 2025.pdf
These principles and definitions are intended to give ICC’s broad expectations for how industry should be carrying out work in relation to competence and ICC guidance that come after this will follow these principles.
The ICC wants to ensure that these principles and definitions:
- Are set the right level
- Will assist industry in raising competence levels
- Are understandable
Feedback on these points is welcome and can be given by using the Feedback Form
