Invest in a Decade of Improvement

Construct a Fire Safe Environment

  • Focus on and maintain fire safety with fit for purpose buildings and renovations
  • Invest to ensure Building Control meets the Nation’s needs and supports innovation
  • Control development using tested approved and certified products and systems

Develop and Trust Competent People

  • Assist workers become fire safety competent across all work sectors
  • Create and use accredited and validated individuals in all fire safety critical tasks
  • Develop corporate good cultures to support safe behaviour including whistle blowing

Raise Understanding of Fire Safety

  • Invest in school learning about fire safety
  • Offer easy access to fire safety information for residents and business users
  • Secure free advice and support to encourage compliance meeting fire safety standards

Increase Surveillance and Penalise Avoiders

  • Invest in enforcement and building control services to be watchful and supportive
  • Make penalties prohibitive and proportionate to the circumstances
  • Invest in public fire and rescue services to support and protect us all

Protect Lives and Property

  • Recognise the corporate investment made by responsible industry
  • Use 3rd party certified products to detect, suppress, contain and extinguish fires
  • Encourage suppliers and maintainers to become fire safe accredited companies
