The Government has launched on 8 June 2021 a new consultation on Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (“PEEPs”) in high-rise residential buildings which seeks views on implementing the relevant Grenfell Inquiry’s recommendations. The consultation will be open for a period of six weeks, from 8th June to 19th July 2021.
They would like to encourage you to respond to and to raise awareness of the new consultation a copy of which is available at Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Alongside the consultation, Home Office are also holding workshops and would very much like to hear from you and others during the consultation period.
In line with the current Government guidance for social distancing, these will be virtual meetings and will take place on Microsoft Teams. Please note on the following dates and times: 15 June, 14:30 to 16:30; 24 June, 10:00 to 12:00; 30 June, 14:30 to 16:30 and 8 July, 10:00 to 12:00. Formal invites will be offered.
The statement accompanying the notification states “You are welcome to attend one or more of the workshops. Please do get in touch with us if you need additional information. Our promise as a Government is to work together to ensure that no such tragedy can ever be allowed to happen again. Getting this right is our priority. We hope this consultation and the workshops planned will give you the opportunity to inform our final decisions and we encourage you to participate in this process.
